Hardcore Comedy + Hardcore BDSM = Fun?

So I did my gig at the Passive Arts Studios. Those who came to see me, and/or were expecting to see some comedy that night, seemed to enjoy it quite a bit. I don’t think the crowd, for the most part, was ready for a bucket of laughs. Though there was at least 8 people (not including my friends) who came up to me to say something very similar to the following:

"Ya know.. when I saw you up there, I thought you were just fucking around about doing comedy and you were going to instead introduce the next act or something. When I realized you were serious, I thought ‘comedy? at a BDSM club? wtf??’ but… you were actually pretty funny and I liked it. Very tough crowd, though, I imagine".

Here’s where irony sets in. When I perform at a "mainstream" club, everyone is apprehensive about laughing at first or even talking to me, cause I’m such a "freak" to them and comics never look like this. However, when I go to a club that accepts everyone for who they are, and it’s so completely over-the-top that almost anything is a-okay – they think I’m a freak, cause I’m too "mainstream" by doing comedy at a BDSM club. I could give two rat shits what the people too self-absorbed and gothed-out to laugh were thinking, but I relished the moment and I appreciate not only everyone who came out to see me, but everyone who put their inhibitions aside long enough to realize that it’s okay to smile, laugh, and have a good time while at a BDSM club.

I felt really good that night, even with only having rehearsed my set 3-4 times (and not but one day before the gig, no less) I was able to get through the whole thing without missing too many one-liners. Perhaps next time I’ll focus on those one-liners more, they’re a bitch to remember sometimes. Regardless, I had a lot of fun, I felt very comfortable up there (well, once that first minute or so passed, cause NO ONE was ready to laugh in the beginning). I actually had to fill in some improv at the end cause I needed to fill time before the next act, which wasn’t ready yet. I’d have kinda preferred to do REAL improv and actually have someone yell out a bit that they’ve never heard me do before – I still appreciate Kristina having the cajones to yell out something I could go off on.

Alright, alright. Enough yakking. You want video? Here ya go:

VIDEO AND AUDIO OF THE GIG CAN BE FOUND HERE

If you’re on a dial-up… you’re fucked. The video is 15:30 long, clocking in at almost 70MB. However, the audio file is only about 7MB, so maybe that’s an option for ya. I really hope you can hear and comprehend all of what is said, I know the audio is less-than-ideal.

Oh, and my personal photographer Michelle was told to "grab at least one good, evil pic of me" while I was up there. I think she came through in spades on this one….

Hot shit, man.

Diggin' my shit? Well then..
