Behind The Desk of Mitcz

Since recently acquiring a spankin’ new PowerMac G5, I found myself in the good fortune of having credit cards to buy accompanying toys for the bad monkey. My setup is near-complete now, actually. And, what a setup it is. Join me now, won’t you, while I walk you through my full setup.

First, the wide view…

Full Desk Setup Shot

And now, the closeup view between the monitor and the A/V stack …

Closeup on Side of Desk

  1. PowerMac G5 – Dual 2.3Ghz. 1.5GB RAM. 450GB worth of internal drives. 16x Dual-layer DVD-R/W. 128MB ATI Radeon 9600 Pro.
  2. Canon Pixma iP4000 – Inkjet Photo Printer.
  3. Pioneer Floorstanding speaker – This is the left 1/2 of the pair. Obviously
  4. MacAlly iceKey keyboard – A full-size keyboard with laptop “scissor-style” keys. So fuckin’ comfortable. I type like a mad fiend on this bad boy.
  5. Viewsonic PF790 19″ Monitor – I’ll be replacing this 5 1/2 year old monitor soon. On top of it, barely visible is my Keyspan Digital Media Remote (the receiver part), so I can queue up iTunes tracks, browse my library, and perform basic functions without leaving my bed. I know, I’m a bitch.
  6. 160GB External Drive – This brings my total storage up to 610GB. Ya know, just in case.
  7. Canon Optura 100 Mini DV Cam – Can you tell I’m a total Canon whore?
  8. Wacom Graphire2 USB Tablet – I need to replace this soon, too
  9. Logitech MX1000 Blue Laser mouse – 12 buttons. Blue Laser accuracy. Pure Badassness.
  10. Sherwood RX-4103 Receiveer – For all my audio output needs
  11. Comcast Cable Box – You can barely see the left edge of my little 23″ Philips TV on the side there. I only watch about an hour of TV, at most, a night. But I like my Comedy Central, damnit
  12. Samsung DVD Player – Nothin’ fancy, really. Progressive scan, though, of course.
  13. Crappy VCR – In the words of Patrick Bateman “I have to.. return some videotapes”
  14. LinkSys Router – Not wireless. Sorry.
  15. Sony Headphones – For my “mixing without waking the neighbors” needs.
  16. M-Audio Radium 49-Key MIDI Workstation – Cause sometimes I pretend to make music.
  17. Canon LiDE Scanner – Rarely used, but it’s a nice, inexpensive scanner all the same
  18. Belkin 4-port USB 2.0 Hub – Who can resist a hub with an iPod Shuffle port on the top?
  19. 1GB iPod Shuffle – For if/when I jog. My first iPod.
  20. 60GB iPod Photo – I love this thing. Got the iPod hookup in my Nissan, as well. I just installed uClinux on it tonight, and ohhh it’s like a new toy all over again
  21. MediaGear Card Reader – Reads all media types. Self-powered. Cheap. Fast.
  22. The Receiver/Base Station – For my Logitech MX1000

The MIDI and the Kitty (Bouschka). Oh, and me..

Midi Kitty

Under the desk, the 3 power strips, 2 of my 3 USB hubs, and a MESS of cords…

Cord Mess

And finally.. the back of the G5…

G5 Back

That concludes our little tour. If you’ve any questions, let me know. I might end up linking all these things to product pages, ya know.. for fun (and profit).

Diggin' my shit? Well then..
