Bill Nye, I less than three you.

Speaking at Community College in TX, Bill Nye – uber-badass and funny scientist extraordinaire – somehow “shocked” the audience when the following occurred..

The Emmy-winning scientist angered a few audience members when he criticized literal interpretation of the biblical verse Genesis 1:16, which reads: “God made two great lights — the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.”

He pointed out that the sun, the “greater light,” is but one of countless stars and that the “lesser light” is the moon, which really is not a light at all, rather a reflector of light.

And some people left the room? One even exclaiming “I believe in God!”. Aren’t we past this, as a culture? Can’t these painfully-god-fearing people just let ONE thing go and say “well, okay, they didn’t QUITE have the full story back when el bible was written”? You cannot refute scientific fact, unless you’ve got even BETTER scientific facts to back it up. The moon reflects the light of the sun. You got an argument for that? I’d LOVE to hear it.

Go choke on a cock.

Sidenote :
Before you think I’m lumping everyone who subscribes to the “god” thing into the same mindset – I’m not. I’m simply stating that those who continue to refute scientific fact (at least, painfully accurate and wholly proved as scientific fact, such as this) REALLY need to check themselves when putting religious text about that which is proven fact. I would think this would be an easy purchase, and letting SOME things slide. But apparently not.

Diggin' my shit? Well then..
