So, I figured while I have this whole “shaved head” thing going on (*sniffles* for the ‘hawk), I should probably get my 666 tat redone. It was done back when I was 19, as my sort of b-day present to myself (interesting trivia – Anton LaVey died on my 19th bday) at the studio where I practiced w/my band. We shared the space with 2 other bands, one of which was comprised mostly of ex-cons. Ex-cons love ex-cons, so they’d often bring freshly-released-from-prison folk by the studio to hang out and get drunk and we’d rock out for them. Once, a guy talked about this prison tat gun he made, and showed some ink he did with it. I said (half-jokingly) “grab that sucker and put 666 on my head!”. After my drummer bribed him with a 6-pack of Heineken, I sat down and he went to work. I didn’t feel a thing, and afterwards I had my first tattoo – made prison-style by a genuine ex-con. That’s kinda badass, right?
Well, it looked to most people like tear drops, but I didn’t keep my head shaved for long, so it was of little concern to me.
Anyway, here’s the before and after..
Now, at the base of my neck, I had the Scorpio “M” symbol that I had tat’d on just to ease my friend’s pain while she was getting a tat on her arm and complaining that it was easy for me to say “that’s not so bad” when I wasn’t feeling tat pain. So, I told the other tat artist in the shop “put something on my neck” and I drew up a sort of tribal “M” logo on paper in about 20 seconds, assuming he’d make it look much better as he went. Apparently, I over-estimated his talents.
Now then is the before/after of that tattoo..

I’m considering getting a tattoo along the mohawk area of my head, just for kicks. My original idea was to have my fave comedians put on there, starting at the base of the head with the bust of Richard Pryor a la “Live on Sunset” era. But the artist said he hadn’t seen portrait work done on someone’s head, mostly because the ink doesn’t work as well there. So, I need to come up with a design for that area if I’m to do it. Not sure if I will.. we shall see, I suppose.
