So What’s This Book?

My codename for it has just been “sex book”. Despite that codename, it’s not necessarily a sex book. It’s more of a “feminist-slanted book about sexuality written from a male perspective, consolidating years of research and interviews” kinda book. The aim is to reverse the damage done by 100s of years of oppression aimed towards female purity, often presented as guilt and shame.

The only tentative title I’ve thought of that I’m at all comfortable with is “Grab Your Crotch And Roar”. I like that because crotch-grabbing is generally regarded as male activity, and there’s an underlying theme in the book about women understanding the male mindset (the respectable parts, of course) and co-opting certain areas of it. Also, it references the pro-femme “I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar” song/mantra.

Right now, there’s just no easy way to explain exactly what I’m doing beyond that. I suck at selling myself. The sample chapters will give you a much clearer picture, however.

Sample #1 – “For the Men”

An introduction to the section of the book dedicated to speaking to men. Only 3 pages in length (under 8 mins via audio).

Sample #2 – “(re)Defining Slut”

The first non-preface chapter of the book. Far more representative of the book as a whole than “For the Men”. Over twice the length of the first preview.

  • October 16, 2009 : Second Sample Chapter posted – After the success and feedback of that first sample, I decided to throw a much larger (and much more representative) chapter out there. This will be the last of the sample chapters for quite some time.
  • October 6, 2009 : First Sample Chapter posted – This was when the first sample chapter from the book was made public. It’s also the first actual chapter I wrote.
  • May 29, 2007 : “I’m Writing A Book…” – The first public mention of the book, back when it was an entirely different book, and encompassed too many things. Once I slimmed it down to one central idea, that’s when I actually started organizing the notes I’ve made into an actual book format.
