So, the mythical Jesus Tablet has finally been announced and revealed. My initial impression was lackluster. As the presentation grew on, it started to make more sense. Once the pricing was revealed? Ohman. They took it. Apple just killed the Kindle. Why would you buy Amazon’s $500 9.7″ black-and-white-just-a-reader when, for the same price, you get a full-color, touchscreen, multi-capable almost-laptop? Sure, there’s still the $250 Kindle, but .. again, why bother? Why be so crippled and limited?

Personally, I want the Kindle to fail. Amazon’s taking SEVENTY FUCKING PERCENT of the price on e-books and magazines. That’s just insane and fucking wrong. Sure, they’re providing the platform – but since the entirety of the platform depends on the …

One of my favorite bloggers and cartoonists (Scott Adams, of Dilbert fame) once asked “how the fuck do you explain the popularity of horror movies?“. I sat on this article for awhile, and realized I never finished it, so I’m doing that now. I will not only answer his question, but give some pretty elaborate examples behind my reasoning. I realize this is better as a Halloween post and not a damn-near-the-holidays post, but to hell with conventions.

As I see it, the love for horror movies boils down to one or more of the following :

We love/relate to the hero(es)

We love/relate to the villain(s)

We just want a demented laugh

We …

Been meaning to write about this for awhile, and I’m going to try and keep this short but I will likely fail. I promise, however, to make it as entertaining and enlightening as possible.

I’m not breaking any new ground by saying the music industry has seen some pretty rough times as of late, I know. I’m also not breaking any new ground by saying “today’s music-buying public doesn’t pay attention to the radio or MTV”. But, therein lies what I’m getting at. WHY don’t people pay attention to new music avenues? My argument : because there ISN’T one worth paying attention to in the first place.

Radio, Radio, Go Away

I stopped listening to the radio around 2002, when I had a …

This post is mostly here so I can link my friends to a central source for something interesting I found (in my travels ’round the interwebz) to “cure” the so-called common cold. While I, personally, have done this, and can verify that it worked for me – I feel like I should drop a number of disclaimers and notes first.

I am not a doctor
I am not getting paid by anyone to tell you this shit
I am not some anti-corporate conspiracy theorist shithead who’s going to tell you this information “is what THEY don’t want you to know, man!”
I could give two shits if you take any of this seriously or not. Again, …

It happened slowly. I can’t put my finger on the exact moment. But, I know it’s happened. I’m absolutely addicted to Twitter and I finally “get it”. This screenshot pretty much says it all…

Picture 1.png

If you don’t yet “get it” – allow me to elucidate.

My Enablers

First and foremost, if the only time you read or update Twitter is by going to twitter.com, you’ll probably never “get it”. It might sound silly, but it’s way too much work to sit there and refresh your feed manually. And, for posting, to have to head over to bit.ly, TwitPic, TwitVid, yFrog, etc to manually shorten a URL or upload a pic/video is a giant pain in the …

First off – huge thanks to everyone who read/listened to that last sample chapter. It gave me a boost of confidence about the project that I simply can’t describe. It’s hitting a note with people, male and female. In just 3 pages, somehow I achieved genuine interest from folks who are now yelling at me to “finish the damn book already!”.

That being said, it’s also very hard for me to get up the courage to put all of my work onto the written page. This is a labor of love for me. I’ve spent many years actively working on the material and I’d be lying if I said I haven’t, at least in some way, sort of spent my whole …

I read a post on GodsGirls, in the “relationships” forum, that intrigued me (identifying details removed)…

so I’ve been dating my boyfriend since <date removed> that makes it <a lot of> years… Before that I was dating this guy who had some issues and moved out to <another state>. Now I’m having some strong feelings towards him again….should I move out to <another state> or not?

My (shortened version) reply was..

For the love of all things you hold dear – DO NOT do this because you think some fantasy you’ve cooked up in your head is gonna work out for you, or that this guy’s suddenly gonna drop everything and agree with your mindset. People almost never change. …

I had this brief thought about a week ago, which one day I’ll work into a larger stand-up bit when I figure out which other blasphemous jokes I’ve written will work alongside it. It’s regarding the Bible. Conveniently, @joerogandotnet went off on one of his classic science and evolution rants in a series of tweets, and it reminded me that I should write this down somewhere for future reference. Then, I saw a post on BlueBlood about Blasphemy Day. Looks like fun! So, here we go..

Why I Consider The Bible A Work of Fiction

Consider this important fact : there isn’t a single fact mentioned in The Bible which, at the time of its publishing, was unknown to …

I recently discovered that a friend of mine has a small degree of separation from Bruce Dickinson. The specifics of how and why are unimportant to this story, as the point of this entry is that her response to my “OMGWTF??? REALLY??” was “yeah… is that a big deal or something?”. She went on to say “I’ve never understood Iron Maiden and never really paid attention to them, so I don’t consider them a big deal”. Interestingly enough, she did admit that an ex boyfriend of hers keeps pairs of Iron Maiden branded Converse in a glass case, and while I would think that crushes all thoughts of them being “not a big deal”, she maintains they’re just another hair …

I’m often in gradual transitions of lifestyle and behavior towards some strange ideal person I’ve cooked up in my head that I hope to one day become.

Moreover, I also pick out behaviors I despise in others and tell myself to avoid inching ever closer to having them myself. The unfortunate side effect of this is that, in moderation, most “bad” behavior is actually good. And normal. Even worth celebrating. When I go too far out of my way to avoid what I find “bad behavior” in others, I risk losing an essential piece of what’s made me…. ya know, ME.

Helluva way to start a blog, but there’s a point a-comin’, I promise. Let’s talk about creeps and creepy behavior.
