Life just got a little better..

I sent out a resume to some random job the other night, just for the fuck of it. I never get replies anyway, but I figured what the hell.

I got a call later that day (I was at work when he called) from the boss at the job I was applying for. I called him back and left a message for him to call me in the morning, before I started work.
The next day (yesterday), he called me bright and early (about 9:15 am) and practically hired me over the phone. He just wanted to know when I could start ;)

So, I go to work and tell them the news. I figured I’d be starting at the new job at $9/hr. They understood that I would want to leave my current job for this new one, but who could replace me?

I was on my smoke break, and some chick walked outside holding a stack of applications. I know that feeling. So I said "hey! need a job?" and I had her follow me back to work. She was hired on the spot to take my position. They said my last day would be Friday (tomorrow) if I get the new job.

Fast forward to this morning….

I go to the place (this is the company) which is right down the street. I ended up talking with the boss (Chris was his name) for over an hour. He was showing me basically what I’d be doing, etc. and asking me if I could handle it. The work I’ll be doing is nothing.. I’ve done it a million times before — just making huge graphics, splitting them up and converting them to websites. That’s how I design anyway, this is nothing.

So, now comes the good part…

I got the job, AND he even offered HIGHER than I was asking. I had $20k/year on my resume for salary requirements - instead, he offered me a SALARY pay of $25k/year!!!! That’s roughly $2,000/month, $500/wk, or $12.50/hr. :) I rule

With that pay, I also get:

- my own office along w/one other person (no cubicles here!!)

- my own system to work on (a PC though, damn)

- 1 hour lunch, (2) 15 min. breaks in the breakroom, where smoking is allowed, also there’s a pool table, ping pong and a foosball table; also 3 couches and some nice chairs to hang out in

- Medical and Dental benefits (hey there doc, fix this)

- Very lax dress code (i.e. no bearings on hair color or piercings)

..and well, I guess job security too. Considering this is a porn site company, there’s very little chance that it will go under any time soon. There’s ALWAYS a demand for more porn, so there’s always going to be room for this company.

Along with that I also ran into some old friends I worked with at a toystore around X-mas. I missed them so much. I thought I’d never see them again. I think Champ’s gonna be happy too that we’ll now have more friends! fuck yeah ;)

But, shhhh… don’t tell. She just called me from the plane and will be here in about an hour. I haven’t told her any of this yet.

So, yeah - shit’s ruling over here.

Oh, and for those of you who’ve been asking.. Michelle’s out of the picture. This isn’t to say we had a falling out per se, or that I dislike her by any means. But it is to say that I haven’t seen her since that entry I wrote about how well everything was going (is that an omen?), and that she got back with her dickheaded ex-boyfriend. They’re not officially "going out" but they’re "dating". I don’t know the full details of the semantics involved in that stature, but suffice it to say that I don’t foresee anything happening with us anytime soon - if ever.

Though, this does pose that eternal question - why do women go for men that treat them like shit instead of someone who doesn’t? Is it the need for dramatic life? Is it because they enjoy taking the most difficult path between two points? Who knows.

I don’t give a fuck though, I’m a happy man now. And, for the first time in my life, I’ve made a conscious decision to NOT date ANYONE for at least a year. I’m going to try and stick to that. This doesn’t mean I won’t have sex. It just means I won’t be trying to keep anyone around. I don’t need that kind of drama in my life anyway.
