Just shut the fuck up and smile goddamnit!
Okay, I’ve had enough. I think we should all smile again, damnit. I’m not saying to forget anything - far from it. I’m not saying to just shrug off this recent terror as if it were an ant bite on the greater picture - it isn’t. But, come on people (Jennifer, this post was inspired by you) — we need to cheer up. The world is NOT going to end in a week. The U.S. is NOT going to fall victim to religious fanatics with far too much time on their hands. We are NOT going to fear airplanes for the rest of our lives. The U.S. economy is NOT going to slip into recession and make us all poor anytime soon. The stock market is NOT going to crash and burn, not anytime soon either.
You want proof? Fuck your proof. You want good news? Check this shit out…
http://www.msnbc.com/news/630736.asp — This is partially what inspired this post — this man knows what he’s talking about, FUCKIN’ READ IT!
http://www.msnbc.com/news/534548.asp — Proof that the stock market’s big fall yesterday was only temporary, they’re on their way back up and we’re going to be okay.
http://www.msnbc.com/news/629351.asp — Here ya go, the airline industry isn’t slowly slipping into oblivion - our now much more trustworthy in my eyes gov’t is going to help them out too.
http://www.cnn.com/2001/WORLD/meast/09/18/arafat.cease/index.html — Remember how people sometimes say "yo man! Peace in the middle east!" well, here’s part of the first steps towards that peace. People are joining together worldwide to embrace, to live in peace. This won’t happen overnight, but it’s happening slowly.
All these things, put together - should put a smile on your face. No, I’m not worried about our country. I’m really not that worried about national security. Think about the odds of this happening in the first place, now multiply that by the number of people holding intelligence agency jobs. That’s the chances of it happening again. Don’t believe me? Fine, go mope someplace else. As for me, I’m loving life. And, if those who were slaughtered in Tuesday’s attacks were alive today, they’d be doing the same. We now have a better reason to be happy — because we were all painfully reminded yet again how delicate life and love are. We aren’t invincible as a nation or as a people. We never were. Should we all bow our heads in depression and shame and no longer embrace life because it might not be around tomorrow? Fuck all that.
I’ll meet you all poolside, sipping martinis. You wanna cry about it and whine about how fragile we all are? Here’s $50, go find a whore that gives a fuck!
