Give it up, people..

Damn shame, man.
Mr. Rogers is dead.

I dug that show, I think everyone who’s under the age of 40 had at least one Mr. Rogers story, yeah? Bet ya didn’t know this… he’s one of the main reasons that we’ve got VCRs. When they were first introduced by JVC back in the late 70’s, a lot of movie companies said it was an illegal device, since it allowed the recording and archival of commercial-free movies on HBO, Showtime, etc. Mr. Rogers helped fight it in court, and basically said that technology - especially the VCR - should be embraced, as it could help us as a culture move forward. If a child is able to record Mr. Rogers, and then later watch it again, for a retouch lesson on good hygene, or the importance of saving pocket change… then children should be allowed to do that. He had a really good speech, obviously I’m just paraphrasing. But anyway, his testimony won the appeals court over, and the VCR lived a fruitful life - bringing about the likes of Blockbuster video, Girls Gone Wild, and homegrown porn :)

Ahhh.. I digress.
