To Avoid Unnecessary DMV Trips - Buy A New Car!
So, I got this letter in the mail the other day, from the Nissan dealership where I’d purchased my 1998 Nissan Altima last October - it says they want to pay off my Nissan and get me into a 2004 Nissan. I was figuring they wanted to clear out their stock of 2004’s to make room for the 2005’s that would be coming in very soon. Seeing as I was planning on doing a little vehicular upgrading later in the year anyway, I thought "why the fuck not?" and decided to go on over there and check it out.
Well… surprise, surprise, my credit cleaning over the past year or so must’ve helped immensely. For only about $150 more a month, I’m now driving a 2005 Nissan Altima. I tossed in LoJack and "gap insurance" to protect my investment. Gap insurance, for those who don’t know, is a bank-provided insurance that covers the cost of the car between what it’s worth and what you owe, should you get into an accident or have it stolen. Normally, you’d have to eat that cost.
It’s a helluva car, all kinds of nifty bells and whistles. There’s a certain thrill in having a car with less than 400 miles on it. Kinda nuts, really. Almost makes me paranoid driving it around. But godDAMN it’s fun to drive. While I’m no audiophile, I can say it’s got a killer factory-default system. I think I’m gonna throw an MP3 CD player in there, cause having had it on my old Altima was a nice feature and most of the CDs in my car are now MP3 CDs. Also, if money allows over the next few months, I’m going to get some new rims, tint the windows and… the ultimate splurge - paint the fucker black. Not that I’m complaining - it’s a beauty of a car and without those upgrades, it’s still the best goddamn thing I’ve ever owned.
No LiveJournal entry about getting a new car would be complete without at least a few pics - so I’ve gone ahead and uploaded some. Take a look..
