Fuck it. I quit.
Sometime around Friday night/Saturday morning, I noticed a little itching in my throat. I didn’t think much of it - figured, like always, if I just smoke - it’ll go away. Yes, that’s how I deal with my health problems.
Sunday night rolls around now my throat really fuckin’ hurts. It’s like there’s this huge lump in there. At the advisement of a friend, I drank some green tea, took some Vitamin C and tried to get to bed. I kept waking up in the middle of the night, having issues w/breathing.
Monday (yesterday), I went to work toting some green tea packets, a bottle of Vitamin C pills and a bottle of antioxidant w/green vegetable pills. Despite knocking back some 1500mg of Vitamin C, 3 glasses of green tea, 2 antioxidant pills, and only trying to smoke about 4 times the whole day (none of which I was able to finish more than halfway) - I still felt like shit.
When I got home around 7pm last night, i went straight to bed. I woke up about 30 mins. ago. This isn’t to say I didn’t wake up hacking up a lung several times last night - but it was surprisingly easy to get right back to bed.
So, now I’m sitting here drinking some more green tea, just knocked back two Vitamin C pills - every 5 minutes I feel like I’m going to throw up or something, but it just ends up being the most painful cough I’ve ever had in my life. Then, my mouth fills up with the most disgusting lungbutter ever. I know you don’t want these details.
But - I’ve been smoke-free for over 14 hours now.
Though I have absolutely NO urge to smoke right now, I think that "once I’m all better" - I’ll have already made it past the crucial 2-3 days of nicotine detox. Even still, if I just keep in mind how I’m coughing and how fucking disgusting, painful, uncomfortable, and horrible the whole thing is — shit, I’ll never smoke again. Okay, well… maybe once in awhile, but certainly nothing serious.
I’ve got a Dr’s appointment later today. Hopefully he’ll give me some antibiotics or something. Gah… anything to not feel like I do right now.
13 years of smoking sure does catch up with you sooner or later.
